പശ്ചിമ ബംഗാൾ മുൻ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയും സിപിഎം നേതാവുമായ ബുദ്ധദേബ് ഭട്ടാചാര്യ അന്തരിച്ചു. 80 വയസായിരുന്നു. ദീർഘനാളത്തെ അസുഖത്തെ തുടർന്ന് വ്യാഴാഴ്ച രാവിലെ കൊൽക്കത്തയിലായിരുന്നു മരണമെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ മകൻ സുചേതൻ ഭട്ടാചാര്യ അറിയിച്ചു. 2000 മുതൽ 2011 വരെ തുടർച്ചയായി 11 വർഷം അധികാരത്തിലിരുന്ന രണ്ടാമത്തെയും അവസാനത്തെയും സിപിഎം മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയായിരുന്നു ഭട്ടാചാര്യ.
